Monster trucks and musicians

Thankfully, for Jeff, we have two little girls who aren't super girly. They are the perfect blend of tough, strong yet gentle little ladies. And with that being said Braelyn loves cars and monster trucks and babies, barbies and makeup. She is great! So when we heard there was a chance for us to see the monster trucks again in Abilene, Jeff, James and I jumped at the chance to take Braelyn and Dylan. Jamom and Jampa watched Happy because sitting in high rise bleachers with an antsy one year old just didn't sound like too much fun! I am always a little hesitant going to these events, knowing we will stick out like a sore thumb. I am in no way snooty and can get along with anyone but can I say that we are not, ahem, redneck at all? So, the kids had a great time watching the show and it was pretty entertaining. Even I was laughing and clapping at the huge trucks smashing cars and doing wheelies, it's pretty cool :)

But the highlight of my night was better than that.. A man walked in with his little boy and I immediately noticed he stuck out there more than us. He was sharply dressed, taking pictures of his little boy and was surronded by people. As the show went on, my brother noticed that everyone kept taking his picture. My brother is the world's biggest Texas country fan and said to me "I think that is Aaron Watson" and I was like "yes, that's it! That's who it is!" We knew he lived in Abilene but I didn't want to assume it was him and feel like an idiot so I got on my phone and googled him. The pictures looked like him so I checked his twitter page and BAM, he said he was at monster trucks with his son. So we waited till the show was over and I, embarrasingly, approached him and said "Are you Aaron Watson?" LOL He was so nice and took a picture with us and just talked. He was super friendly. I apologized for bothering him when he was out but he said no he loved meeting fans and he was so glad we came up. Here is the song he is most famous for.. 3rd Gear and 17. I have met a number of "famous people" and I can say he was the nicest I have ever met. He spent a couple minutes talking to us and talking to Dylan and shaking our hands. If you are not a fan of his, now is the time to jump on the band wagon. He was a great guy.. and can I say really cute? :)

UPDATE: After I posted this blog I found this great interview that Aaron Watson did back in March 2008. Go read it all but I will share my favorite part:
"I'm an Abilene, Texas boy. I'm not a Nashville, Tenn. guy. I've got a great little church that I attend every Sunday. And there's great school districts in our town, and you know, Abilene has just that old-timey feeling. And I'm gonna be honest with ya, At the end of my road, when I'm on my death bed, do you think I'm gonna be thinking of how many records I've sold? Honestly, my legacy is my music, my legacy is the life that I live and it's through my boys, the kind of men that they become. So I'm more worried about raising good Christian men than I am about becomin' famous worldwide. My philosophy is that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I truly believe that. We don't drink and we don't act like rock stars. I run a Christian organization. I'm all about wherever I go, me and my boys tryin' to be a positive influence on whomever we're in contact with. It's really just about lovin' everybody. What we've done in five years, it's just absolutely unheard of and it's phenomenal. And that's because we've got a lot of folks prayin' for us, and a lot of folks wantin' to see us succeed. And we work really hard. So I'm absolutely just thrilled. Thrilled and so thankful that I can make music that I like and that people like it enough to buy it. I mean, think about how crazy that is."

Splashin' and Sparklin'

Do you love my new blog header? :) Fourth of July is my very. favorite. holiday. Hands down. I always go a little crazy about it! The girls dresses are from The Children's Place if you need to order one before next weekend! :)

Yesterday my brother, James, and I decided to drive all three kids to Eastland to their mini water park. It was so fun! The pool just has two kids slides, a big slide and a kids play area but to a five year old, two year old and one year old.. it was a blast! They were squealing like.. well.. little girls :) We will definitely being going back again this summer.
On the way back from Eastland we stopped, before city limits, to get some fireworks. I did walk in the huge firework store in soaking wet clothes with my swimsuit under them, haha. Anyways, we got the kids some kid version fireworks.. sparklers, smoke bombs and of course, those things that pop when they hit the ground. I did let them do them all last night so we will have to buy some more next week. I couldn't help it.. its my favorite holiday so we had to celebrate more than just one measly day! They went crazy with them! They also learned the word 'firework'.. apparently we don't usually discuss those around the house.. ha! All in all, a good day!

In other totally unrelated news.. while having lunch in Eastland, Texas at McDonalds I heard CNN on tv announce that Farrah Fawcett had died. I was a little taken back. It's kind of one of those moments when time stands still. I don't know why but I was pretty sad. I just watched her special on tv a couple on months ago. Unless you are heart less, it probably brought tears to your eyes. Farrah fought a long, hard battle. Then after swimming, we get home and I saw Perez Hilton write on Twitter that Michael Jackson had died. I immediately starting scanning the internet for other reliable sources, such as CNN.com, to wait for the official announcement, which did eventually come. What a shock! I wasn't even a die hard MJ fan but to lose two amazing American icons in one day was pretty unsettling. Not to mention, that Ed McMahon had died this week as well. I got to think about how we actually feel for people we don't even know. I mean, we grow up with these people as public figures and you start to feel some kind of connection them. I don't know, maybe it's just me but you know, you get excited about seeing their new babies, are anxious for their new movie or music and eventually we will hear that some of them has passed. Of course, as a Christian, I don't always agree with their lifestyles but I think America took a hard hit this week in the entertainment world. Two American ICONS: Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett will be missed.
You need to go watch this video of MJ's Dance Moves because no one will ever dance like Michael. Sorry, Justin Timberlake ;)
Hope your weekend if fun filled and sunny :)

Jon and Kate

Unless you have been living in a cave the past few months, it would be hard to have missed the drama surrounding the starring couple of the hit TLC show Jon and Kate plus 8. I love this show, rarely miss an episode and have always admired how Jon and Kate devoted their lives to their 8 children and doing what was best for them. Until now. As of late, the couple have both had infidelity rumors, accused of exploiting their children in many ways and so much time away from their home to be promoting the show or one of Kate's two books she has written. It really is saddening, even though we don't even know these people, to watch this family fall apart. Is there really a reality show curse on marriages? Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson. Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker. Patridge Family kid Danny Bonaduce and his wife, Gretchen. Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. Hulk Hogan and his wife, Linda. It is ridiculous.

From the start of these Jon and Kate rumors I did figure it was just rumors. People trying to make money. The couple are both still denying any truth to it all but like most Hollywood rumors, they usually turn out to be true. Even after all the denials.

If you have ever watched Jon and Kate's show you will recognize these two people as Kate's brother and sister-in-law. Aunt Jodie is a frequent sextuplet babysitter. Apparently they are estranged from Jon and Kate right now. The rumor on that is that TLC offered to pay the couple, since they are on the show so frequently, and Kate was livid about this.

Watch both of these:

It sad and hopefully this is all untrue.
